Ireland’s Proposed Amendments To Bankruptcy Law

On 25th January 2012, the Irish Government announced the introduction of new legislation designed to reform Ireland’s “arcane” personal insolvency laws, in a bid to strengthen a culture for entrepreneurship and business growth. The heads of the Personal Insolvency Bill include the introduction of automatic discharge from bankruptcy, subject to certain conditions, after three years, in place of the current 12 years.
